P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our clients who are currently recruiting an Operations Manager based in Barrow. This role would suit an individual with a strong background in industrial coatings, or a marine background would be beneficial.
The Operations Manager holds responsibility for managing all personnel, work scope, and budget controls for the client’s projects. They are also responsible for developing site procedures to meet key business objectives, adhere to timelines, build effective professional relationships with the client, comply with specifications, and maintain a reputation for delivering excellent customer service to ensure contract retention.
Responsibilities include:
* Establishing systems using the Company’s Management System, implementing processes and procedures in the field, and ensuring effective project management throughout the project lifecycle with a focus on safety and milestone achievement.
* Ensuring facilities are well-organized with appropriate resources, and safety, environmental, and quality matters are professionally managed.
* Promoting the use of the management system to standardize project management approaches.
* Planning project work scopes with detailed programming for timely delivery.
* Managing procurement, reconciliation of materials, and compliance with company policies.
* Participating in client meetings and delivering pre-start meetings to the site team.
* Collaborating with the Commercial Manager to monitor project finances and forecasts.
* Producing progress reports, cost analyses, and work scope forecasts for the Project Director.
* Implementing risk management processes and reviewing risk controls.
* Managing documentation and ensuring effective communication with clients and internal teams.
* Leading meetings, overseeing design management, and verifying job requirements.
* Supporting internal and third-party audits and leading reporting processes like 8D / 5 Why.
* Monitoring work packages, target costs, and daily activities, and maintaining communication with the client and project team.
* Driving operational improvements and ensuring compliance with project specifications and client requirements.
* Monitoring performance of painting/blasting personnel and overseeing the paint inspection team.
Health, Safety, and Environmental
* Setting high standards for HSEQ, ensuring compliance, and providing training.
* Overseeing HSE documentation, conducting site inspections, and liaising with relevant parties.
Quality
* Ensuring Inspection and Test Plans, Method Statements, and inspection hold points are produced, communicated, and implemented.
