Description
Digital Business Automation are a global function within HSBC's Chief Technology Office, with approximately 280 staff in multiple locations around the globe. We are responsible for defining and implementing the strategy for several critical products across the organization, as well as ensuring their availability, recoverability, and security.
This role is for a senior engineer within the Workflow Orchestration and Workload Automation team, working on the Control-M product. This product has multiple instances in different countries for which we are accountable for and these support many Important Business Services within the organisation.
Role Expectation
1. Develop a product roadmap with focus on the underlying database technology in collaboration with the Product Owner, technical team, and Architects to align to business strategy.
2. Contribute to defining a Database strategy for Control-M
3. Monitor database performance and proactively tune for efficiency and scalability
4. Work with relevant parties to determine funding requirements for the product to facilitate its development.
5. Deliver optimised ways of working that allow the bank to leverage best value from its contract with the vendor.
6. Contribute to funded programmes of work that may require new instances of Control-M to be built or upgraded, and/or existing workload to be migrated from one instance to another.
7. Help to instil best practice and optimised ways of working across the product engineers, mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams
8. Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (, Shell, Python, PL/SQL) and have a good understand of ITIL principles and Service Management Frameworks.
Skills Required
Essential
9. Strong experience as an Oracle DBA and Proficient in Oracle performance tuning and optimization (SQL and instance level)
10. Demonstrable knowledge of the Control-M product stack
11. Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux system administration and scripting
12. Strong written and verbalmunication with the ability to translateplex technical information into an engaging and understandable format for customers and business leaders, including the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
13. Working experience in Agile methodologies.
14. Highly skilled inplex problem solving, critical thinking, applying judgement, building consensus, and decision making.
15. A strong level of IT literacy, including a broad knowledge of IT infrastructure (operating systems, networking, security).
Desirable
16. Experience of operating Control-M in a Public Cloud Service Provider environment such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
17. Experience implementing and managing Logging, Monitoring and Alerting framework, using such tools as Splunk, AppDynamic, Truesight or Thousand Eyes.
18. Knowledge in production support, release management, delivery artifacts and delivery management.
