The Job Role Details:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Commercial Fitter / Agricultural Mechanic to join the workshop operations team. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone with strong mechanical expertise, a commitment to safety and quality, and excellent time management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
You will…
* Perform mechanical diagnostics, servicing, repairs, and maintenance on a variety of commercial vehicles, machinery, and equipment (e.g., trucks, trailers, agricultural machinery, or plant equipment).
* Diagnose faults using appropriate tools and equipment.
* Fabricate, assemble, and install mechanical components as needed.
* Conduct inspections and prepare vehicles for compliance certifications (e.g., roadworthiness).
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment.
* Work flexibly, including call-outs and seasonal peak support (harvest/planting).
* Maintain job cards, service records, and documentation for all work completed.
* Ensure efficient workflow and turnaround of work to meet company timelines and standards.
* Monitor inventory and order parts, materials, and tools as needed.
* Support colleagues and apprentices, sharing technical knowledge where appropriate.
Ideal Person Skills & Qualifications:
You will have / be…
* Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Diesel Mechanics, or similar.
* Minimum 5 years of experience in a mechanical or fitting role with both agricultural machinery and HGV’s.
* Strong knowledge of commercial vehicles, machinery, and mechanical systems.
* Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Strong organisational and time management skills.
* Proficient in basic computer skills for job tracking and reporting.
* Current driver’s license (HR or higher preferred).
* Forklift, crane, or heavy machinery operation license.
* Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, or electrical systems.
* Familiarity with fleet management software or workshop management systems.
