Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 (dependant on experience and qualifications)

About the Role
Are you an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Fitter, or Workshop Engineer looking to pass on your skills to the next generation?
This is a fantastic opportunity to take your hands-on experience from the shop floor and use it to develop tomorrow’s engineers.
We’re looking for someone with solid experience in mechanical maintenance, hand fitting, and workshop engineering - someone who knows the tools, understands how machines run and enjoys helping others learn the trade.
You don’t need prior teaching experience - full training and support will be provided to help you transition into the role of Engineering Instructor / Assessor.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Delivering practical training in Hand Fitting, Mechanical Maintenance, and Workshop Techniques.
* Demonstrating and assessing skills such as assembly, disassembly, fault finding, machining, and mechanical repair.
* Guiding learners through Level 2 and Level 3 Engineering programmes (Standards and Performing Engineering Operations).
* Supporting apprentices in developing the technical and personal skills needed for industry success.
* Ensuring safe working practices and maintaining workshop discipline and organisation.
* Using digital systems and e-portfolios to record learner progress (training provided).
* Helping to maintain and set up workshop machinery, tools, and learning materials.
* Promoting Equality, Diversity, and Safeguarding within all training environments.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
* Level 3 Engineering Qualification (e.g. Mechanical Maintenance, Fitting, or Machining).
* Strong background in Mechanical Maintenance, Plant Engineering, or Workshop Fitting.
* Confident with tools, machinery, and mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, etc.).
* A genuine passion for engineering and developing others.
Desirable:
* Level 3 Teaching or Assessing Qualification (e.g. AET, TAQA, or equivalent) – or a willingness to work towards it (fully supported).
