About the Role
Are you passionate about making a difference in patient care? As a Radiologic Technologist (Rad Tech), you will play a vital role in performing diagnostic imaging procedures that assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Your expertise in operating X-ray and other imaging equipment will ensure patient safety and produce high-quality images for physician review.
We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, compassionate, and committed to delivering exceptional patient care while adhering to safety protocols and professional standards.
Your Responsibilities
* Read charts, prescriptions, and radiology requests to confirm valid physician orders for diagnostic x-ray procedures.
* Gather pertinent clinical information and follow special physician requests noted on prescriptions.
* Prepare contrast media according to physician's orders or departmental policy.
* Ensure proper patient identification before performing x-ray procedures.
* Inquire about pregnancy status for female patients of childbearing age prior to x-ray procedures.
* Report any positive or questionable responses to the radiologist or referring physician for further guidance.
* Perform diagnostic x-ray procedures not involving fluoroscopy.
* Assist physicians during fluoroscopic and invasive radiology procedures.
* Provide diagnostic x-ray coverage in the operating room.
* Lift and move patients with assistance.
* Operate all stationary and mobile x-ray equipment available in the Medical Imaging department.
* Notify the supervisor of any equipment deficiencies.
* Develop x-rays and maintain processing equipment by ensuring chemical solutions are at prescribed levels.
* Maintain the assigned x-ray room and ensure it is stocked with necessary supplies.
* Assist in the operation of the x-ray file room as needed.
* Label all studies correctly.
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications:
* Degree: Graduate from an AMA approved program in Radiological Technology.
* Licensure: Current New York State licensure or permit to practice as a Radiological Technologist.
* Registered with ARRT and BLS certification within 3 months of hire.
* Ability to think and act quickly to deliver efficient, quality patient care.
* Strong reading and deductive skills to interpret physician requests and solve problems effectively.
* Interpersonal skills to handle apprehensive patients with professionalism and compassion.
* Effective communication skills for interaction with physicians and staff in emotionally charged situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
No prior experience required.
Working Conditions
Union: CSEA - Civil Service Employees Association (MH) (Note: Not all per diem roles are union eligible)
Physical Requirements: Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay Range: $28.82 - $38.96
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full-time applicant. It may be modified in the future and is eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
