Applications Specialist

As part of the Digital Healthcare team, the Applications Specialist supports the delivery and maintenance of corporate and clinical applications to support safe and effective patient care while delivering the digital strategy.
The role involves day‑to‑day support of applications including incident management, request fulfilment, monitoring, change and release management, and decommissioning. It also includes proactive improvement of applications and effective communication with users and suppliers. The position requires high organisational ability, motivation, and the capacity to work under pressure to deliver an excellent service.
Main duties
* Support the full life cycle of applications from design and implementation to decommissioning, covering technical and configuration elements
* Implement application configurations and delivery mechanisms
* Conduct application testing, including technical and functional elements
* Maintain applications through upgrades and patching
* Manage incidents and fulfil client requests
* Deliver projects and significant work as part of the team
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree level education or equivalent experience in delivering and supporting applications
* ITIL Foundation certification
* PRINCE2 Foundation certification
Experience
* Worked across multiple organisations and in multidisciplinary teams
* Collaborated with external suppliers and providers
* Experienced in product delivery and maintenance
* System administration experience
* Understood customer requirements and delivered services
* Identified and resolved problems
* Worked as part of a team
* Experienced in high‑pressure environments
* Worked in a healthcare setting
* Delivered projects
Knowledge
* Principles of application lifecycles
* Common application infrastructure, databases and server‑based applications

Salary
£32,073 to £39,043 a year (per annum, pro rata)
