Balfour Beatty are looking for a Senior Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Advisor to join our M25 Connect Plus Services Team. This role can be based at Dartford, Leatherhead or South Mimms and will include regular travel across the M25 network. A company car will be provided.
As a Senior HSW Advisor you will develop, implement and monitor processes aimed at managing health, safety and well‑being risks within the Project, supporting our ambition to be a safe and responsible company. The role will require occasional night construction work.
What you will be doing
* Provide day‑to‑day management, guidance, support and mentoring to other HSW advisors.
* Be a visible champion for HSW throughout the project, engaging with operatives and managers.
* Oversee the implementation of organisational standards relating to HSW at a local level, providing feedback to the HSW Managers.
* Monitor the delivery of the communications strategy and report back on effective communication.
* Support the delivery of appropriate HSW training based on project needs.
* Support targeted inspections of HSW management system and supply chain audits, track and close actions.
* Manage your diary and stakeholder communications to plan, schedule and conduct inspections and HSW conversations.
* Prepare and communicate timely reports and presentations detailing performance data on inspection findings.
* Represent the Health, Safety & Well‑being function during conference calls and meetings.
* Review work activities against safety system of work, provide documented advice where necessary.
* Support incident investigations, ensuring incidents are dealt with effectively with actions tracked to close out.
Who we’re looking for
Essential
* Membership of a relevant professional body (IOSH).
* Professional qualification in health and safety (minimum NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent).
* A current CSCS Card.
* Clean, full driving licence.
* Able to maintain a regular night‑time and weekend presence.
* Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital platforms.
Desirable
* Prior site‑based construction experience.
* Experience working on a Joint Venture.
* Experience facilitating meetings via digital platforms (Teams, Zoom, Skype).
