Project Commercial Director
Overview
A leading offshore wind developer seeks a seasoned Commercial and Financial leader for a large-scale project currently in the Development Phase, targeting operation by 2030.
Key Interfaces
Reporting to the Project Director, the Commercial Director will be a core member of the Senior Leadership Team, managing commercial functions (excluding accounting), business case development, and collaborating across all project areas. The role requires at least two office days per week, with flexible work and occasional travel.
Main Responsibilities
* Lead development and optimisation of the Project Business Case, aligning financials with technical and environmental teams.
* Manage all Commercial aspects (CfDs, PPAs, OFTOs, hedging, insurance) except procurement.
* Drive Project Finance strategy, ensuring bankability and engaging lenders and shareholders.
* Oversee Finance Manager (accounting and treasury).
* Implement robust cost control, forecasting, and reporting systems.
* Interface with shareholder asset managers on JV commercial and financial matters.
* Provide oversight of the legal function alongside Project Counsel.
* Lead risk management, ensuring balanced commercial risk.
* Define and implement Route to Market strategy.
* Ensure strong governance, controls, and commercial procedures.
Minimum Requirements
* Degree in Mathematics, Engineering, or numerate discipline.
* Strong numeracy, commercial acumen, and strategic thinking.
* Proven experience in large-scale offshore wind business cases (750MW+).
* Deep expertise in project commercial and financial leadership in renewables.
* Understanding of full offshore wind project lifecycle.
* Experience driving business case optimisation and commercial value.
* Skilled in managing multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
