Responsibilities
* Evidence based assessment of care needs and development of programmes of care.
* Implementation and evaluation of care programmes.
* Carry out all relevant forms of care without supervision.
* Assist with training, supervision and mentorship of qualified and unqualified staff under guidance of senior colleagues.
* Communicate effectively with multi-professional team, children and their families to promote evidence based nursing practice.
* Work in partnership with Ward sisters and Charge Nurses, Senior Nurse and General Manager to facilitate practice development.
Qualifications and requirements
* Neonatal experience (Band 5) with neonatal QIS, or the ability to undertake a supported QIS training programme.
* Evidence of ability to work in neonatal care and develop nursing practice in line with QIS standards.
Support and environment
* Supported by a senior nursing team including Band 7 Senior Sisters and a Practice Development Nurse.
* Clinical leadership in neonatal care with involvement from senior nurses in research, infant feeding, FI care and governance.
* Large neonatal team with eighteen Paediatric Consultants and a Neonatal Outreach service.
