Package Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as EAL Teacher & Assistant SENDCo. This is a full-time role providing a unique opportunity to contribute to both the academic development and learning support of our students. The successful candidate will teach EAL classes during the College day and work closely with the SENDCo to support students with additional learning needs, particularly by supporting access arrangements for examinations. There will be an appropriate adjustment of the teaching timetable to ensure the post holder can effectively fulfil both the teaching and SEND responsibilities.
Students at the College are engaged in a world class STEM education, and for those for whom English isn’t their first language, the development of their language skills is a core part of our mission. The College currently has students from 30 different nationalities, all with different levels of English experience and proficiency.
The department delivers a range of qualifications depending on the needs of the student. Most students are working towards IELTS and will have 5 hours of English tuition per week until they have received the level they require for their university application (typically 7.0+). Pre-A students work towards the Cambridge English qualification.
While prior experience in SEND support (including access arrangements) is beneficial, training in this area can be provided to the right candidate.
We reserve the right to interview applicants early and close this advertisement before the closing date if we receive a high volume of suitable applications.
