Company Description
BMAT is a forward-thinking multi-academy trust supporting both primary and secondary schools across Essex and East London. Founded on the success of transforming Burnt Mill Academy in Harlow, BMAT has grown into a regional educational trust committed to ensuring all children have the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background. By empowering teachers to focus on teaching rather than bureaucracy, BMAT fosters inspired and instinctive learning. While part of a unified trust, each school is encouraged to maintain and celebrate its unique local identity.
Role Description
BMAT is seeking an experienced Non-Executive Director with a strong background in Human Resources to join our Board and support the Trust through its next phase of growth and development.
As a Board member, you will play a vital role in ensuring BMAT remains a well-governed, sustainable organisation, focused on delivering the best outcomes for our pupils and communities. You will work alongside a committed Board and executive team, providing strategic oversight, constructive challenge and support.
We are particularly interested in individuals with experience in:
* Strategic HR leadership and organisational development
* Workforce planning, talent management and succession planning
* Employee relations, wellbeing and engagement
* Change management and organisational culture
* HR policy, compliance and governance
This is a voluntary role and an excellent opportunity to gain or further develop board-level experience, while making a meaningful impact across our schools.
The role can be undertaken remotely, reflecting how our Board operates, although we would ideally welcome someone who is able to visit the Trust periodically. A clear but flexible time commitment will be provided and is manageable alongside other professional responsibilities.
BMAT is committed to diversity and inclusion and welcomes applications from individuals of all backgrounds.
