We are looking to appoint a dynamic and compassionate Social Worker to join the Social Work Team at Rampton Hospital, part of Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
In this role, you will report to the Social Work Manager and play a key part in delivering a high‑quality Social Care service to a forensic patient population across our four clinical care streams: Men's Mental Health, Men's Personality Disorder, National High Secure Women's Service, National High Secure Deaf Service and National Learning Disability Service.

Responsibilities
* Provide a high‑quality social work service to a caseload of up to 25 forensic patients and their families or carers.
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, liaising with external agencies and contributing to complex assessments and reports.
* Engage respectfully with patients, families, carers, social care partners and probation services, balancing risk management, public protection and individual quality of life.
* Promote dignity, inclusion and anti‑discriminatory practice, and take a lead role in safeguarding adults and children.
* Apply government guidance for visits to High Secure Hospitals and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
* Support the facilitation of visits and visits management.
* Maintain professional knowledge of legislation (Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Criminal Justice Legislation, Care Act 2014, Children Act 1989 & 2004, Human Rights Act, Equality Act 2010).
* Ensure a full UK driving licence and be able to travel to other secure units.
* Support and participate in professional development, supervision and mentoring as required.

DBS clearance is required. Applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. The cost is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced) and will be deducted from salary over the first two months of employment. An annual fee of £16 per year applies for the DBS Update Service.
Training
* Mental Health Act 1983 as amended 2007, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Criminal Justice Legislation, Care Act 2014, Children Act 1989 & 2004, Human Rights Act and Equality Act 2010.
* Evidence of continued professional development relevant to the position.
Qualifications
* Professional social work qualification: master’s, bachelor’s degree, diploma or certificate of qualification in Social Work.
* Social Work England registered or eligible for registration.
* Working experience at an experienced social worker level (e.g., NQSW/ASYE or equivalent).
* Practice Educator Award, or willingness to work toward a postgraduate qualification relevant to the role.
Experience
* Experience working within the relevant legislative frameworks.
* Evidence of multi‑agency and multi-disciplinary working with individuals presenting complex needs and risks.
* Experience in challenging restrictive practices and promoting rights and freedoms.
* Experience working within adult mental health.
* Experience mentoring, training or supervising staff or students.
Knowledge
* Application of social work practice and associated policies, theories and frameworks relevant to individuals with complex needs and significant risks.
* Understanding of how the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act apply within a mental health hospital.
* Knowledge of incorporating culture, race and gender perspectives to underpin anti‑oppressive practice and promote equal opportunities.
Skills
* Ability to sustain and model engagement with people in fluctuating circumstances.
* Ability to gather information quickly and inform judgement for interventions.
* Skills in autonomous report writing, including court reports.
* Proactive contribution as an effective member of a clinical team while providing professional challenge.
* Ability to advise MDT regarding risk assessment and risk management.
* Proficiency in IT systems and software for accurate work records.
* Ability to develop and participate in educational, training and professional activities.
* Leadership and teamwork capability.
Contractual Requirements
* Travel to other secure units within the UK.
* Full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use (reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals).
Physical Requirements
* Physical ability to perform full range of duties, including Breakaway training.

Salary
£39,959 to £48,117 per annum (pro rata for part time) plus a High Secure Allowance of £3,000.
