LEGAL COMPLIANCE OFFICER – TECHNOLOGY COMPANY
LONDON
HYBRID WORKING (2 DAYS IN THE OFFICE, 3 FROM HOME)
PERMANENT ROLE
Role Overview:
Morgan Philips Specialist Recruitment is representing a globally operating, UK-headquartered IT services and consulting firm seeking a Legal Compliance Officer to join their Legal team.
This is a newly created, strategically vital role aimed at supporting the company’s expanding global operations. As part of the Legal Team, you will ensure adherence to legal standards and internal policies across multiple jurisdictions, implementing compliance programs, monitoring adherence, providing legal advice, and fostering a compliance-focused culture.
Key Accountabilities:
Compliance and Governance
* Ensure adherence to corporate governance standards, codes of conduct, and relevant laws across jurisdictions.
* Monitor regulatory developments, interpret their relevance, and advise leadership accordingly.
* Support development and application of internal controls for full compliance.
* Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and compliance risks across group companies.
* Advise on legal and regulatory implications of strategic and operational decisions.
* Maintain legal risk register and contribute to companywide risk reviews.
Policy Oversight and Monitoring
* Implement and maintain key corporate policies, including anti-bribery, competition, whistleblowing, data protection, and ethics.
* Monitor adherence and liaise with internal Global Risk and Compliance functions.
Global Regulatory Compliance
* Ensure compliance with international frameworks like GDPR, FCPA, and local laws.
* Coordinate with external counsel for jurisdiction-specific advice.
Insurance
* Communicate insurance arrangements and ensure awareness of coverage and exclusions.
Training and Development
* Create training on legal issues and policies to mitigate risks.
* Keep legal team updated on regulatory changes.
Audit Support and Participation
* Participate in audits related to legal and regulatory compliance.
* Maintain audit readiness with updated documentation and controls.
* Present compliance materials during audits.
* Support corrective actions post-audit.
About You:
* Law degree (LLB or equivalent).
* Membership in a recognized legal association (e.g., SRA in UK).
* 3+ years in legal, compliance, or risk roles.
* Experience designing compliance frameworks across jurisdictions.
* Knowledge of international compliance standards and ISO standards like ISO 27001, ISO 37301, ISO 9001.
* Understanding of internal control design and audit participation.
* Proficient with legal research tools and compliance platforms.
* Skilled in drafting policies and procedures for compliance.
* International business experience is a plus.
