Clinical skills, leadership potential, and a strong commitment to animal welfare are essential for this role. A Registered Veterinary Nurse must be able to work within the team with the ability to promote good staff morale and a positive working culture. They should be able to motivate the nursing team with the overall goal of achieving clinically excellent standards throughout the practice.A Registered Veterinary Nurse must maintain membership with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. They should be familiar with legislation affecting the practice of Veterinary Medicine in the UK, and the ethics and practices as outlined in the RCVS Guide to Professional Conduct.*DAILY DUTIES** Ensure clinical standards are being met and are compliant to the RVCS Code of Professional Conduct, and that VMD legislation is being adhered to.* Provide an exceptional standard of care to all patients, ensuring their comfort and well-being. Maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring all treatments are documented.* Provide excellent client communication in person and via telephone and email. Updating the client on patient treatment options and advice, educating clients on animal care, nutrition, and preventative health measures.* Ensure consult rooms, clinical areas, and theatres are clean and setup daily with the correct equipment for appointments.* Ensure appropriate stock levels of all necessary medication and maintain clinical and surgical equipment following correct process.* Support the Veterinary Surgeon in theatre, monitoring anaesthetic, and post-operative recovery of patients.* Assist with or perform minor procedures, such as blood sampling, administering medication and radiography as directed by the Veterinary Surgeon.* Ensure continual maintenance of laboratory equipment. Running internal laboratory tests and posting external laboratory samples.* Provide mentorship to student nurses or newly qualified veterinary nurses, supporting their professional development and sharing knowledge and expertise.* Support the revision and implementation of best practice protocols and clinical guidance within the practice.
