About the role We are looking for an IT Test Analyst to join the Technology team. The role is based in our Customer Support Centre in Walsall. After a probationary period, there is flexibility to work from home one day per week. Your Impact and Responsibilities In this role, you will work closely with the software developers, technical product owners and the business to understand system requirements, user needs, and key business objectives, translating them into test cases that cover both standard and edge-case scenarios. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining test cases from business requirements, executing test cases, and documenting findings in a clear, structured manner. A proactive approach is essential, as you will regularly communicate test progress, results, and potential improvements to Test Manager and other key stakeholders. Work on multiple small projects and Change Requests (CRs) at the same time Create detailed and well-structured test cases Ensure test cases cover all functional and non-functional requirements Identify, document and track software defects Collaborate with development teams to verify fixes and resolve issues Work closely with business analysts, and Technical Product Owners to understand requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of testing processes and results. Skills and Knowledge We are looking for: Previous experience in a software testing or quality assurance role focused on customer-facing applications in the retail sector. Proven experience in using defect tracking tools, such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, to identify and document issues Knowledgeable in end-to-end general merchandise Retail functions such as Supply Chain, Finance, Marketing, Trading, Retail & Digital Knowledge of Testing best practice tool and techniques Knowledge of testing concepts, methodologies, and practices, such as functional, regression, integration and user acceptance testing (UAT) Ability to analyse complex systems requirements and write comprehensive test cases Strong attention to detail in understanding requirements and assessing potential risk areas About us Since our humble beginnings in 1990, Poundland has evolved into a retail powerhouse with over 850 stores and nearly 17,000 dedicated colleagues across the UK and Republic of Ireland.
