Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Internal Communications Lead to take ownership of internal communication channels within a large, fast-paced, and operationally complex organisation. This role plays a critical part in connecting colleagues to the organisation’s purpose, values, and strategy through engaging, inclusive, and impactful communication.
Reporting to the Head of Communications, you will lead internal channels and content strategy, shaping how information is shared across diverse global and frontline audiences. This is a high-profile opportunity for a strategic communicator who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys combining creativity with structure, insight, and delivery excellence.
Responsibilities
Channel Ownership and Strategy
* Own and manage internal communication activity across multiple channels, including email, intranet, digital signage, print, mobile applications, collaboration platforms (e.g. SharePoint, Teams), and face-to-face engagement.
* Ensure messaging is clear, inclusive, consistent, and tailored to varied colleague audiences across locations and functions.
* Develop and deliver an ambitious internal channel strategy aligned with business priorities.
Intranet and Digital Platforms
* Own the internal intranet platform, including backend content management.
* Design and implement content strategies that improve user experience, increase engagement, and reinforce organisational priorities through effective storytelling.
Content Development and Storytelling
* Curate and create compelling content that brings culture and values to life, spotlighting people, achievements, and key initiatives.
* Deliver a broad range of materials, including internal campaigns, newsletters, articles, leadership briefings, Q&A packs, and key messaging frameworks.
* Introduce innovative formats and creative approaches to elevate visual identity and engagement across channels.
* Use data and insight to evaluate effectiveness and continuously improve communication impact.
Strategic Advisory
* Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and cross-functional teams, shaping internal communication plans for major programmes, projects, and operational rollouts.
* Provide expert guidance on messaging, timing, and audience segmentation to ensure clarity and resonance.
Event Leadership
* Lead the planning and delivery of central colleague events, including leadership forums, business briefings, and internal recognition programmes.
* Manage end-to-end logistics, agenda development, narrative creation, content delivery, and post-event evaluation.
Agency and Supplier Management
* Manage relationships with external agencies to ensure high-quality, on-brand internal communications.
* Introduce best practice and innovative approaches to messaging, design, and colleague engagement.
Measurement and Reporting
* Monitor and measure communication effectiveness using analytics, feedback, and engagement data.
* Produce insight-led reports and recommend actionable improvements to optimise channel and content performance.
Requirements
Essential
* Proven experience in internal communications, channel management, and colleague engagement within large, complex, or fast-paced organisations.
* Strong understanding of engaging global and frontline workforces through multiple communication channels.
* Experience delivering communications that support diverse projects while maintaining consistent messaging aligned to business objectives.
* Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex or technical information.
* Strong stakeholder management skills, with confidence advising and constructively challenging senior leaders.
* Highly organised, proactive, and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
* High levels of discretion, integrity, and sound judgement when handling sensitive information.
* Digitally confident, with experience using modern communication tools and platforms.
Desirable
* Experience leading internal events or large-scale engagement initiatives.
* Experience operating within logistics, transport, aviation, or similarly operational environments.
* Experience embedding scalable internal communication processes and frameworks.
