Overview

We’re looking for Support Workers in the Southampton area. As a Mental Health Support Worker with Cera you will play a fundamental part in improving the lives of people with mental health conditions and a history of substance misuse. You will need to be comfortable supporting people who may at times present with challenging behaviour; training will be given. The role may include elements of personal care.

Are you prepared to support people in crisis, and to de-escalate sensitive situations?

Can you help people to make a positive change to their lives?

Can you communicate effectively and use active listening skills to understand people\'s needs?


Role highlights

* Shift patterns consist of days or nights, part-time or full-time; we are flexible on the days you work, although some weekend working is essential.
* We can only consider both drivers
* Opportunity to complete either NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Social Care (through work-based learning) and further progression opportunities

More about the role

* In this role you will need to be able to communicate and promote positive behaviour, identifying triggers in order to prevent escalations of stressful situations.
* You must also be prepared to handle emergencies and crisis situations, using de-escalation techniques to diffuse situations.
* You will have an awareness of and sensitivity to diverse cultural backgrounds and the co-occurring disorders and how they can influence mental health and substance misuse issues.
* You will be resilient and able to manage stress and the emotional demands of the role.
* You should have the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, social services and community organisations to ensure the people you support get access to a full range of support services.
