The Opportunity

Praxis is seeking an exceptional Head of Security to lead and evolve security strategy at Brindleyplace, one of Birmingham’s most vibrant and high-profile mixed‑use estates. Combining premium office space, retail, leisure, food & beverage, and significant public realm, Brindleyplace is a destination as much as it is a workplace. This role requires a strategic, commercially astute security leader who can operate confidently across corporate environments, busy public spaces, and dynamic nightlife settings. You will provide both strategic oversight and operational leadership, ensuring the estate remains safe, resilient, and welcoming for occupiers, visitors, and the wider public. This is a high‑impact leadership role for someone who thrives in complex, visible, city‑centre environments.

The Role

* Develop and lead the Brindleyplace security strategy, translating priorities into operational excellence.
* Lead a professional 24/7 security function across a diverse estate environment.
* Manage evolving risks including terrorism, serious crime, protest activity, anti‑social behaviour, and public safety.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, including the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025.
* Oversee CCTV, control room operations, access control, contractor vetting and visitor management systems.
* Lead emergency response planning, crisis management, and post‑incident reviews.
* Act as the principal security contact for occupiers, asset managers, and public sector partners.
* Build strong relationships with West Midlands Police, Birmingham City Council, and counter‑terrorism advisors.
* Manage performance of in‑house security teams and suppliers to ensure excellence in service delivery.
* Oversee recruitment, training, and continuous improvement within the security team.
* Manage the security budget and contribute to service charge planning and reporting.

About You

You are a credible, visible and values‑led leader with gravitas and commercial awareness.

You will bring

* Significant senior security leadership experience within property, FM, or complex operational environments.
* Strong knowledge of city‑centre asset protection across office, retail, and public realm in a Senior Security remit.
* Demonstrable experience managing large‑scale estates and security compliance frameworks (including ACS accreditation).
* Deep understanding of current security legislation and risk management, including Martyn’s Law and the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025.
* Extensive and demonstrable crisis management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
* Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence at senior level with a track record in developing, motivating and increasing standards across the team.
* A credible and respected leader who demonstrates gravitas and collaboration with regards to stakeholder management.
* A strategic mindset, coupled with operational rigour to develop and enhance the security function across the estate.
* Up‑to‑date understanding of security technologies, cyber‑physical convergence, and risk management techniques.
* A recognised security management qualification (Level 5+, CSMP, CPP or equivalent).
* SIA Licence (CCTV & Guarding).
* Leadership/Management degree or higher education qualification.
* Military or senior law enforcement experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Personal Attributes

* Demonstrates strong accountability by delivering on commitments, taking ownership of performance and proactively addressing challenges to achieve results.
* Confident communicator with excellent report‑writing and presentation abilities.
* Skilled in stakeholder management (internal and external) negotiation and influencing.
* A demonstrable ability to get things done and deliver change quickly and effectively.
* Values‑led leadership style that aligns with Praxis’s ethos: professional, proactive, and unafraid to challenge convention.
* Focused and pragmatic, adopting a can‑do approach to all endeavours.
* A consummate professional with consistently high standards of excellence, influencing others to deliver to the same standards.
* Calm and considered approach to leadership and operational management.
* Committed to working in accordance with the Praxis values.
