Overview
Security is a key focus at BT. You will join a specialist security team that designs and implements world-class, customer-focused network solutions. The team works on projects ranging from small bespoke solutions to large enterprise deployments, with direct engagement with end customers to understand requirements and design solutions that protect society.
This job role can be based in London or Ipswich. Onsite (5 days office-based). Monday-Friday (37.5 hours per week). You must be able to obtain DV clearance to start, and you will need to have lived in the UK for 10 years+ to obtain this.
What you'll be doing
* Lead the creation of high and low level network designs for complex IP networks.
* Hands-on implementation of these solutions, using vendor products such as Cisco.
* Work directly with customers to understand requirements and inform solution design.
* Collaborate with support teams to enable management and ongoing support of deployed solutions.
* Provide third-line support to deployed solutions.
* Provide support to project teams, setting the technical direction for deliveries.

You'll definitely have
* Experience in designing, building and providing third-line support for complex IP networks that are secure, scalable, resilient, and high performing.
* Ability to set the technical direction for complex and potentially large network solutions, creating both high and low level designs.
* Knowledge of network design for security, potentially including firewall, IDS and IPS experience.
* Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
* A desire to continually update, enhance and validate own skills.
You might even
* Experience with enterprise and operator-scale routing design using OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, LDP or RSVP.
* Experience of automation and Software Defined Networking approaches (e.g., Cisco DNAC and Ansible). This is an area the team is upskilling in and will support your development.
* Experience of internal and external stakeholder management and engagement.
* Certification in a network engineer discipline (e.g., Cisco CCNP Routing and Switching). Practical experience with vendors’ equipment is often more important than certification.
