A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor to join our specialist rail, civil engineering and MEICA delivery team in Wales & Western. You will play a key role in the commercial management of long‑term, secured Metro, Environment Agency, and Civils & Buildings Capital Delivery projects across the region.

About the Business Unit
Our Wales & Western business unit is fast‑paced, diverse and delivery‑focused, operating across a wide range of civil engineering and infrastructure sectors including:
* Rail & Metro (bridges, embankments, stations, platforms, tunnels)
* Environment Agency (flood alleviation, resilience works, asset protection)
* Local Authority schemes
* Multi‑disciplinary civils and MEICA projects
We deliver a mix of one‑off tendered schemes and long‑term framework programmes with key clients, including major Capital Delivery Projects.
Current secured works include:
* CP7 Network Rail infrastructure projects and renewals
* TfW rail infrastructure projects and renewals
* Metro enhancement schemes
* Environment Agency assets and flood alleviation
* Bridge reconstruction, structural upgrades and refurbishments
* Station improvements including platforms, accessibility and Access for All – AfA’s

The Role
Reporting to the Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will commercially manage a portfolio of Capital Delivery, Metro & Environment Agency projects across Wales & Western territories. You will be responsible for full project life‑cycle commercial stewardship—from tender award through to Final Account.
Key Responsibilities
* Timely submission of applications for payment and all contractual entitlements
* Ensuring payments are received in line with contract terms
* Preparation and submission of tender/estimate information
* Negotiation and agreement of Final Accounts
* Weekly reporting of cost/value, delivery schedules and KPI data
* Preparation of Monthly Cost/Value Reconciliations and cost/value forecasts
* Cash‑flow forecasting and forward work schedule planning
* Procurement, negotiation, and management of subcontract packages
* Commercial administration of subcontractors through to final settlement
* Issuing contractual notices and correspondence in accordance with contract requirements
* Preparation of documentation for variations, claims and additional payments
* Commercial support to site operations, Contracts Management, Estimating and Procurement
* Mentorship and oversight of Trainee/Apprentice Quantity Surveyors
* Close client liaison on all commercial matters

About You
You will have a proven background in civil engineering, infrastructure or MEICA contracting, ideally with experience in rail, Metro or Environment Agency-type projects. You will be self‑sufficient, commercially sharp, and capable of managing projects from award through to final account.
Requirements
* Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or relevant commercial discipline
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in a civil engineering contracting environment
* Rail, civil engineering or MEICA experience
* Strong commercial acumen, communication and negotiation skills
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team
