Context:
TheOperational Resilience Managerreportsto theHead of Technology RiskOversightand is part oftheTechnology Risk Team, which forms part of theSecond Line ofDefencein theNon-Financial Risk function.
The role will provide second line oversight of operational resilience, technology resilience, IT disaster recovery, and business continuity.
The roleispart of awiderteamresponsible forproviding second line oversight ofnon-financial riskacross(1)Technology,(2)Data,(3)Third Party and(4)Operational Resilience,across M&G.
The roleprovidesadvice and challenge to the first line,reviewingthe implementation and operation of the non-financial risk framework.
Italsosupports regulatory compliance (e.g.FCA, PRA, DORA), contributes to strategic risk insights, and strengthens theorganisation’sability to withstand and recover from disruption.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provideindependentsecond line oversight of thefirst line’sdelivery ofoperationalresilience, including business continuity,technology resilience, andITdisaster recovery.
2. Providesecond line risk opinionon resilience capabilities,identifyingmaterial weaknesses, gaps in control design, and areas requiring remediation.
3. Challenge thefirstline’s identification, assessment, and treatment ofresiliencerelatedrisks, ensuring alignment with theNonFinancialRisk Framework
4. Support the effective operation of theNonFinancialRisk Framework, including RCSAs, issues and events, controls, scenarios, and risk appetite monitoring.
5. Review the strength and appropriateness ofNonFinancialRisk controls across all areas of Operational Resilience.
6. Drafthighquality, insightful input for risk reporting, governance committees, and senior management forums.
7. Provide risk business partnering to First Line and contribute to risk and governance fora with clear,evidencebasedchallenge.
8. Maintaineffectiverelationships between the first line and the broader Non-Financial Riskfunction, engaging withwider Risk teamsasrequired.
9. Support the operation and maintenance of MetricStream (GRC tool),assistingwithdata analysisanddeliveringperiodicreporting.
10. Contribute to and/or lead selected assurance reviews, thematic deep dives, and targeted testing of resiliencecapabilities..
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
11. Experience inoversight ofoperational resilience,technologyriskor IT disaster recovery, preferably within financial services or regulatedorganisations.(essential)
12. Goodunderstanding of regulatory requirements (PRA, FCA, DORA) andbestpracticeindustry standards.(essential)
13. Ability to interpret and challenge resilience metrics, impact tolerances, and scenario testing outcomesrelating to important business services.(essential)
14. Able toconstructivelychallenge the first line in theiridentification and assessment of key risks,andinthe design and operation ofcontrols.(essential)
15. Good understanding of the risk environment facing M&G plcor similar financialorganisations.
16. Strong analyticaland communicationsskills with the ability to distil complex technical information into clear insights.
17. Ability tooperateas part of a team, but also independently with minimal supervision.
18. Relevant professional qualificationsdesirable(egCBCI, CRISC, CISSP).
