Electrical Design Engineer – Building Services
A successful, small‑sized MEP consultancy with multiple projects across the country operates from its office in Edinburgh. This team specialises in all aspects of buildingMETHODS services engineering from concept to completion. The employer seeks an experienced Electrical Building Services Design Engineer to manage and run multiple small‑scale jobs such as commercial office fit‑outs, local authority work, decarbonisation studies, and condition surveys.
Responsibilities
* Design electrical building services, including HV/LV power, lighting, emergency lighting, lighting control, fire alarms, communication systems, lightning protection, security and access control.
* Produce high‑quality drawings and design calculations.
* Prepare specifications, schedules, drawings and tender documents at each RIBA stage.
* Attend design progress and coordination meetings, tender/client interviews, and site inspection meetings.
* Coordinate with clients, contractors, suppliers, and other designers.
* Maintain high‑quality assurance standards.
Qualifications
* HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent certified Electrical Engineer.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Proficient in AutoCAD, Amtech, Dialux, and other design software.
* Experience in electrical design of lighting, LV supply, small power distribution, earthing, lightning protection, fire and voice alarm systems, telecommunication services, low‑current and extra‑low‑voltage services, automatic controls, BMS.
