Job Description
Assystem is growing fast — and our stress and structural integrity capability is growing with it. We’re looking for a Senior/Principal Stress Engineer who is ready to take the next step into a technical and capability leadership role, helping to strengthen, grow and develop our UK stress engineering community.
This is a hybrid role: you’ll deliver high‑value technical work for clients while also shaping the direction, tools, talent and strategy of our stress capability.
What You’ll Do
* Lead complex stress and structural integrity assessments using FEA and hand calculations.
* Review and approve technical work, representing Assystem confidently with clients.
* Mentor and develop engineers, building future stress specialists.
* Drive capability growth — training, methods, best practices, recruitment and retention.
* Support bids and business development, working closely with Engineering Directors and Sales.
* Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams in the nuclear and defence sectors.
Qualifications
* Strong background in stress analysis / structural integrity.
* Expertise in FEA (ABAQUS, ANSYS, etc.) and relevant assessment codes (ASME, BS7910, R6, etc.).
* Experience in the nuclear or similar highly regulated sector.
* Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working toward it.
* Ability to develop and implement technical strategy and capability development.
* Lead, build and guide a community of highly skilled stress engineers.
