Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Nursery Room Leader to oversee the daily operations of one of our nursery room. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children. This role requires experience with children and a solid understanding of early childhood education principles. The Nursery Room Leader will work closely with staff, parents, and children to promote positive development and learning.
As part of the management team, you will be responsible for supporting the Nursery Manager and deputy with leading and managing the nursery team and providing mentorship to colleagues at all levels.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the nursery room team, providing guidance and support to staff members.
* Commitment to safeguarding children, ensuring excellent education and childcare
* Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that foster children's physical, emotional, and cognitive development.
* Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the nursery room at all times.
* Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns that may arise.
* Ensuring children get the best start in life by leading a team who work in close partnership with parents/carers to develop independence, confidence and self-esteem. Building the children's resilience and well-being.
* Maintain accurate records of children's development, attendance, and any incidents that occur.
* Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive learning environment.
* Responsibility for assisting specialists in the nursery, such as Behaviour management representatives, SENCo, Safeguarding Lead, SALT etc.
* Uphold nursery policies and procedures while promoting a positive atmosphere for both children and staff.
* Supporting the Nursery Manager, and Deputy Manager, to be responsible for the running of the nursery in the absence of the other members of management .
* Contributing to monthly staff meetings and management meetings
* Leading opening and closing procedure and have key holder responsibility
* Taking reasonable care of yourself and others ensuring both you and your teams specific duties regarding Health & Safety and Fire Procedures are understood and actioned
About you
* Relevant Level 3 Qualified practitioner within a childcare setting.
* Previous experience working with children in a nursery or early childhood education environment is essential.
* Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
* A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their development.
* Exceptional mentor skills with proven experience in assisting the development and implementation of strategies in current processes
* A solid knowledge of the EYFS
* An up-to-date Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding and Food Hygiene (full training provided if you do not possess those certificates)
* A clear and valid DBS. Overseas applicants will also need a clear and valid certificate of good conduct
* Flexibility with start and finishing times
* Impeccable interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively to colleagues of all levels of seniority
