Scientific Officer – Biological Resources UnitSalary: £25,000–£30,000 Contract: PermanentLocation: Manchester We are seeking a motivated Scientific Officer to join the Transgenic Team, supporting the care, welfare and breeding management of transgenic mice under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.

1. Daily husbandry, welfare checks and record‑keeping
2. Managing transgenic breeding colonies
3. Supporting processes such as cryopreservation and rederivation
4. Working to SOPs and promoting the 3Rs
5. Participating in weekend and bank holiday rotas
6. Contributing to facility upkeep and equipment maintenance
Essential:
7. HNC in Animal Technology (or equivalent)
8. Current/previous Personal Licence (PIL A–B)
9. Experience in transgenic mouse breeding and colony management
10. Strong organisational andmunication skills
11. Accuracy, attention to detail and ability to work independently
12. Flexibility, including weekend/bank holiday work
Desirable:
13. Degree in Biological Sciences
14. Experience with oncology strains orplex breeding schemes
15. Experience with cryopreservation techniques
