Account Director
Our Account Directors provide clients with a high-quality service through effective direction of the account team and help to secure new business for the company. They are ultimately responsible for overall account and financial performance and growth by providing strategic consultancy and marketing insight.
They offer client service by managing and building client relationships, offering strategic overview, high-quality service and account management. Our Account Directors support resource planning and collaboration with other departments and shared services such as editorial, creative/digital and scientific services. They lead new business activities and participate in RFI and RFP creation.
Account Directors also manage and develop line reports by setting goals and continuously offering on-the-job mentoring. They direct assigned account team(s) on strategic account needs and operational requirements and review and finalise business plans with their account managers.
Responsibilities
* Working with editorial team leader to ensure that workflow within accounts is always optimised
* Participating in author/key opinion leader and client-facing calls, meetings and live events as necessary
* Finance and forecast ownership
* Supporting the navigation of all projects in motion to ensure high-quality work is delivered on time and within budget
* Reviewing account(s)/projects to ensure they meet client objectives and brand requirements
* Identifying and developing business opportunities within existing accounts
* Developing and presenting proposals to the client
* Utilising Prime Medica information systems (where necessary) to produce market and product reports which support business development with prospective clients
* Strategic planning: excellent knowledge of medical communication deliverables – clear understanding of pharmaceutical industry drivers and ways to employ them into innovative and high-quality deliverables for high-expectation clients
Requirements
* 7 years of relevant experience in Client Services working for a pharmaceutical company, medical education or communications agency or similar
* A life sciences degree, ideally combined with a master's or PhD
* Ability to successfully oversee and manage multiple accounts including forecasting and account growth
* Excellent interpersonal/relationship development skills working with colleagues and clients
* Ability to mentor and line manage account team members and identify training needs as required
* Possessing strategic insight, sound judgement and solid problem-solving skills – able to identify issues and find suitable solutions
* Ability to effectively communicate, lead and delegate
* Strategic understanding of project/account objectives and contribution to strategic account planning
* Excellent organisational skills, time management and attention to detail
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment – where multiple projects are in motion – while being mindful of timelines and budget expectations
* Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing
* Leader mentality and level of accountability
* Strong judgement and confident decision-making skills
