Job Title: Senior Project Engineer

We are currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join a national infrastructure programme, playing a pivotal role in ensuring engineering excellence across design and construction activities. This is a key leadership position responsible for the application of appropriate engineering standards in alignment with legislation, Railway Group, and Network Rail Company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the application of engineering standards across all projects within the national programme.
* Ensure compliance with legislative requirements, Network Rail standards, and Railway Group protocols.
* Oversee and verify the competence of engineering staff assigned to functional disciplines across multiple projects.
* Implement Network Rail systems and procedures to deliver cost-effective, safe, and high-quality technical solutions.
* Monitor design, construction, and commissioning activities to ensure adherence to engineering controls and best practices.
* Provide guidance and functional direction to Project Engineers within the discipline.
* Conduct and review quantitative and qualitative risk assessments and HAZOP analysis.
* Liaise with governmental departments and ensure alignment with current legislation.
* Monitor environmental compliance in accordance with Network Rail’s Environmental Policy.
* Advise programme and project management teams on construction activities, site supervision, and technical assurance.
* Arrange and conduct audits on contractors to assess the adequacy of safety, quality, and management systems.
Ideal Candidate:
* Proven experience in engineering leadership within the rail or infrastructure sector.
* You must have a PTS licence
* Strong knowledge of Network Rail and Railway Group standards.
* Demonstrated capability in design assurance, technical governance, and project compliance.
* Experience with risk assessment methodologies, including HAZOP.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Chartered Engineer status or equivalent is desirable.
