Volunteer Coordinator – Wollaton Walled Garden Project
The Wollaton Walled Garden Project is community‑led and coordinated by the Friends of Wollaton Park. Our aim is to restore the 4‑acre Walled Garden at Wollaton Hall.
We are looking for a volunteer who can work with and coordinate other volunteers on a day‑to‑day basis. Some experience organising teams of people and basic gardening knowledge are necessary.
Our group of over 30 volunteers specialise in growing vegetables, tending to plants and flowers, and restoration and conservation tasks.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate volunteer activities and ensure smooth operations.
* Run inductions for new volunteers, including signing‑in, health and safety and protocol briefings.
* Support volunteers day‑to‑day on the garden and park sites.
* Assist with recruitment days, outreach work and admin tasks.
* Help new members find tasks and manage issues.
* Welcome members of the public to the site.
Qualifications & Skills
* Great communication skills.
* Interest in working with people from diverse backgrounds.
* Ability to work in a team, take guidance from staff and adapt to busy situations.
* Planning skills.
* Basic horticultural knowledge is a plus.
* Willingness to be hands‑on and muck in as needed.
Requirements
Available on Tuesdays and Thursdays for a minimum of 3 hours from 10 am.
