Position Summary
The Data Centre team is responsible for operational excellence across all Claranet UK Data Centres, including installation and support of Claranet and customer equipment, mechanical and electrical facilities management, and security.
This customer-focused team is split between London and Bristol, providing critical on-site support around the clock. Our Data Engineers manage the lifecycle of hardware hosted within Claranet UK Data Centres, offer remote assistance for colocation customers, and support facility operations to maximize uptime.

We seek a Data Centre Engineer to help create stable, reliable platforms, ensuring optimal operation and efficiency across our technology landscape.
Objectives and Key Results
The Data Centre Engineer is part of the Data Centre Practice within Customer Experience and Managed Service. The key objectives include:
1. Operating on a rotational roster of dayshifts between 8:00am and 8:00pm, Monday to Friday, totaling 37.5 hours/week.
2. Participating in an on-call rota, covering escalations outside regular hours, generally once every 4 weeks, with additional compensation.
3. Assisting Claranet customers and visiting engineers with installation and support, representing Claranet professionally at Data Centre sites.
4. Maintaining site security and access control, working with the security team to uphold quality and security certifications such as ISO9001 and ISO27001.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties include:
* Troubleshooting hardware faults and installing spare components as needed.
* Based at Docklands and Hoddesdon Data Centres (must live within 1 hour commute, EN11 & E14), with occasional travel to other UK sites.
* Providing hands-on services to departments and external customers.
* Installing and decommissioning managed equipment within Data Centres and customer sites.
* Performing routine maintenance to ensure maximum uptime.
* Handling fault escalations, providing timely updates, and maintaining documentation.
* Conducting physical checks, audits, and managing Data Centre assets and security.
Collaboration
Work closely with Customer Experience, Managed Services, Delivery, Support, and Change teams to ensure high standards of installation and support.
Position Specifications
Behavioral competencies:

Technical requirements:
* At least 1 year experience supporting server hardware, network equipment, and working within Data Centres.
* Experience installing and troubleshooting hardware, firewalls, switches, routers, and basic Linux/Windows systems.
* Certified Data Centre Technician (CDCT) or similar qualification preferred.
* Basic knowledge of Cisco networking, VMware, and cabling.
Nice-to-have skills:
* Firewalls, switches, routers, Linux, Windows experience.
