About the role: We are looking for an enthusiastic, positive and proactive individual, to join a collaborative and professional care team providing a high-quality service for adults with learning and physical disabilities. In this key role you'll provide vital support to the Short Breaks and Respite Service at Corserv Care, ensuring Adults with Learning & Physical Disabilities achieve the best outcomes possible. Role Purpose: The Support Worker in our respite service will provide high-quality care and support to individuals with learning disabilities and autism. The role involves creating a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment that promotes the well-being, independence, and personal development of service users during their stay. You will support the Team Leader and Senior Support Worker to deliver a high standard of service and ensure continuity of service provided. You will be expected to work flexibly either independently or as part of a team. What you'll be doing: Personal Care: Assist with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, feeding, and mobility support, ensuring dignity and respect at all times. Emotional Support: Offer emotional and psychological support, helping service users manage anxiety, stress, and other emotional challenges. Provide a calm and reassuring presence. Health Monitoring: Monitor and document the health and well-being of service users, including administering medication, reporting any concerns to senior staff or healthcare professionals, and following care plans. Activity Planning: Develop and participate in tailored activities that promote social, physical, and cognitive engagement, adapting to the individual needs and preferences of each service user. Advocacy and Empowerment: Advocate for the rights and needs of service users, promoting their independence and encouraging them to make informed choices about their care and activities. Safety and Risk Management: Ensure a safe environment by adhering to all health and safety guidelines, conducting regular risk assessments, and implementing safeguarding procedures. Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with service users, their families, and other members of the care team, ensuring that all interactions are respectful and inclusive. Record Keeping: Keep accurate and up-to-date records of care provided, incidents, and any changes in the service user’s condition, in compliance with organisational policies and regulations. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, healthcare professionals, and external agencies to deliver holistic care that meets the complex needs of service users. About you: Desirable qualifications & experience: Experience in a respite care setting. NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification or working towards. Care Certificate Understanding of safeguarding principles and health and safety regulations Basic First Aid and Medication Administration training. Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism. Knowledge of Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) or similar approaches. Training in Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC).
