The Role
As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a variety of special educational needs, ensuring they are fully supported throughout the school day.
Key responsibilities include:
* Delivering one-to-one and small-group interventions to support learning and development
* Assisting class teachers in adapting activities to meet individual pupil needs
* Supporting pupils with communication, social skills, and emotional wellbeing
* Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in classroom activities
* Helping pupils build confidence, resilience, and independence
* Following individual education plans and implementing agreed support strategies
* Monitoring pupil progress and reporting observations to teaching staff
* Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals
* Providing personal care support where necessary, maintaining dignity and respect
* Contributing to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Your role will be instrumental in helping pupils access education and achieve meaningful progress both academically and personally.
About You
We are seeking an individual who:
* Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Education, Childcare, Supporting Teaching and Learning, or a related discipline
* Has previous experience working with children with SEN, either in schools or similar settings
* Demonstrates patience, understanding, and a child-centred approach
* Has knowledge of SEND practices and effective behaviour support strategies
* Possesses strong communication and teamwork skills
* Is adaptable, proactive, and committed to supporting individual pupil needs
* Understands the importance of safeguarding and child protection procedures
* Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one
