Your new role
In your new role as an Engineering Manager at i6, you will oversee up to four engineering teams — each with their own Technical Lead. You will be pivotal in scaling i6’s engineering operations, driving technical excellence, accelerating delivery, and fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and operational rigor.
What you will do
Technical Delivery:
* Overseeing architecture and infrastructure decisions for the Biosphere platforms.
* Upholding engineering best practices—code quality, CI/CD, testing, and security standards.
* Driving technical innovation.
* Establishing robust metrics, monitoring team performance, and driving continuous improvement.
* Ensuring timely, high-quality releases with reliability and maintainability in mind.
Leadership & Management:
* Line-managing 3–4 Technical Leads.
* Providing coaching, performance development, and mentorship.
* Ensuring career growth through planning and regular feedback.
* Aligning engineering roadmaps with business goals and product direction.
* Contributing to the creation and implementation of transparent “career ladders” for the roles within Engineering.
* Driving continuous improvement, by challenging the status quo and fostering a culture of innovation.
Stakeholder Management:
* Collaborating with Product, Design, QA, and Customer Success to deliver impactful features.
* Build a strong relationship with our Infrastructure team, encouraging more direct collaboration between engineers and their Infrastructure colleagues.

* Fostering cross-team collaboration and removing obstacles to delivery.
Who you are
* Proven experience managing multiple engineering teams (preferably 3–4), including line-management of Technical Leads.
* Bachelor’s degree - preferably in Software Engineering, Computer Science or similar, but other degrees would be considered.
* Strong technical leadership in SaaS, Cloud-based platforms—ideally with real-time, data-driven applications.
* Experience with Agile methodologies and delivery frameworks.
* Strong grasp of architecture, and an ability to lead architectural decision making.
* Solid understanding of engineering best practices: CI/CD, code reviews, test automation, observability, security; and a track record of implementing them.
* Demonstrated ability to mentor and grow technical leaders.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills across functions.
* Experience with containerisation and orchestration, preferably in GCP or AWS environments.
* Experience decomposing monolithic application into finer grained services.
A bit more about us
* We’ve recently raised our Series B funding.
* We are a remote first company with offices in Farnborough and Manchester. A number of our team are fully remote and some teams are primarily remote, typically meeting in the office once a month.
* We aim for all of the company to come together for a day once a quarter.
