Position: This position is offering 26.5 hours per week, £32,412 per annum (FTE £48,925) working 8am to 5pm.
Location: Primarily based in the Gatwick area with duties in a court/custody environment as described below.
Overview
As a Nurse, you will be part of a close team working to use clinical expertise and skills to take responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of custodial individuals within the court setting. You will be responsible for diagnosis, identifying appropriate interventions, maintaining records and providing clinical advice and guidance in a court setting. Experience within a prison secure establishment would be an advantage.
Duties include
* Adhere to and implement CQC and local policies and procedures whilst working within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
* Apply critical analysis to the synthesis of complex information during the care process to provide accurate advice and health information and medication to patients.
* Keep immediate and accurate records of service user enquiries during the consultation.
* Accurately document consultation notes in a timely fashion to allow for suitable clinical guidance and intervention.
* Identify and use information sources to support clinical decision-making.
* Provide health education during the consultation process and refer to appropriate healthcare providers as required.
* Refer to Service Delivery Manager, peers or colleagues as necessary for advice, while maintaining accountability for decisions.
* Demonstrate the ability to remain focused on service delivery amidst a challenging workload.
* Maintain knowledge of standard procedures and escalate issues affecting service delivery as necessary.
Requirements
* Current registration with NMC as a Nurse with no investigations/suspensions current or pending.
* Previous experience of clinical autonomy.
* Evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
* Minimum 3 years post-qualification as a paramedic.
* Experience within primary and acute care; experience in a prison secure establishment would be an advantage.
* Basic IT skills; fluent English; full driving license.
* Smart, professional appearance and conduct.
* Ability to work actively within a team, but also independently when required.
* Clear and concise communication, especially when interacting with patients and third parties.
* Ability to identify and correct signs and symptoms of a deteriorating patient; quick, informed decision making; calm under pressure.
