About the Role
Teach Now is proud to be recruiting for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Careers Lead to join a specialist autism provision in Barnet. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to take the lead on careers education and employability pathways for young people with autism, helping them prepare for life beyond school.
Working with Key Stage 4 and 5 pupils, you will design and deliver a dynamic, inclusive careers programme that reflects each students strengths, aspirations and individual needs. This is a role where creativity, organisation and passion will directly shape students futures—supporting them to develop confidence, independence and real-world skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and develop the schools careers and employability programme for KS4 and KS5
• Plan and deliver engaging, accessible careers education tailored to autistic learners
• Provide 1:1 careers guidance and mentoring, supporting personalised pathways
• Build and maintain partnerships with employers, colleges and training providers
• Coordinate and support work experience placements and transition planning
• Work collaboratively with staff and families to ensure joined-up, person-centred support
• Contribute to innovative, inclusive approaches to careers education across the school
Candidate Requirements:
• Experience working with autistic learners or within a SEND setting
• A strong understanding of careers education and CEIAG principles
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Experience creating engaging, differentiated learning resources
• A proactive, organised and solution-focused approach
