This is an exciting opportunity to join Sandwell’s new Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) – Better Research for Better Health. Sandwell HDRC is a partnership between Sandwell MBC, the University of Birmingham, and the local voluntary & community sector, funded by the National Institute for Health & Care Research (NIHR). Our HDRC vision is to undertake evidence-informed, robustly evaluated activities that reflect the needs and values of our diverse local communities.
As one of two Embedded Researchers based within the HDRC, you will:
* Work closely with academic partners and wider stakeholders, including local communities, to identify and take forward research priorities relating to the wider determinants of health
* Support the embedding of evidence-informed practice alongside effective evaluation of programmes, projects, services and interventions
* Develop research skills, culture and infrastructure across directorates and wider system partnerships
* Oversee and manage evaluation of the HDRC programme of work, co-ordinating specialist input from internal and external partners
The Successful Candidate Will Have
* A Doctoral level qualification in a relevant subject
* Three or more years of experience in research, including developing and conducting evaluations of public health interventions, programmes and policies
* Knowledge of research systems and methods, and translation of evidence into practice
* Experience of working with a range of stakeholders, such as Higher Education Institutions, local government, the NHS, local communities, community groups and the voluntary sector
* Excellent communication, report writing and presentation skills for a wide range of audiences.
