About the Post

We are looking for an excellent teacher with high expectations of themselves and children, fantastic classroom management skills and the desire to contribute fully to the wider life of the school. The position would also suit a recently qualified Early Career Teacher as it is a fixed‑term contract for 2 years.

The first priority for all teachers is to provide quality first teaching to meet the needs of all children in their class. Year team members work together to shape and enhance the curriculum based on the needs of the year group. Class teachers are responsible for the pastoral and academic progress of each child in their class, using the school’s systems for assessment and tracking pupil progress. Year groups meet weekly to share ideas, pass on relevant information and review practice. Working as a team, sharing resources and supporting each other are key elements of working in the year group. Year teams also work collaboratively to carefully consider the interventions which are appropriate for the children in their year group, communicating this accurately to all staff.

Responsibilities of the post include the pastoral role of being a class teacher; working with a learning support assistant on occasions; contributing to the fuller life of the school; supporting school policies on behaviour and attendance.

Christchurch Junior School is a member of Twynham Learning – a multi‑academy trust of ambitious infant, junior, primary and secondary schools serving the local community.
