United Utilities has awarded Costain a new Managed Service Provider (MSP) framework contract. Under the contract, Costain will provide overall management and delivery of United Utilities’ larger‑scale water and wastewater asset maintenance activities across its entire network, including 96 water treatment and 575 wastewater treatment sites, serving over six million people in the North West of England.
The role will cover quality and continual development across our management systems, performance reporting, KPIs, processes and business assurance to meet internal and external stakeholder needs.
The role will be hybrid, with attendance at the office/site at least three times a week required. Flexible working arrangements are available for this role on agreement.

Responsibilities
* Comply with and support the development and management of the Business Management System in accordance with ISO and regulatory requirements.
* Responsible for the development, preparation, issue, and control of quality related project documentation.
* Manage the internal and supplier audit programme, including conducting internal and supplier audits and assessments.
* Ensure that relevant quality requirements are clearly identified and documented.
* Deliver QA/QC oversight and assurance arrangements for projects and supply chain.
* Ensure procedures and management processes are maintained in line with all regulatory standards, participate in management assessments and customer feedback, and support or deliver identified corrective actions.
* Manage and coordinate the project quality activities in line with project requirements.
* Provide guidance and advice to project teams on quality issues.
* Encourage learning from experience (LFE) to aid continual improvement.
* Ensure all project documentation is kept up to date in line with overall project status, including review and acceptance of supply chain documentation.
* Represent quality during attendance at project meetings.
* Identify opportunities for improvement and support their pursuance.
* Establish a good internal working relationship with project personnel at all levels to ensure the effective and efficient completion of all quality related activities and verify that both the organisations and the customer’s quality requirements are clearly understood and communicated.
* Support and champion the development and maintenance of a ‘Right First Time’ approach to project execution.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
* Proven experience in a quality related role ideally in the construction industry.
* Understanding of CDM regulations.
* Proven experience on the interpretation and implementation of ISO and regulatory requirements.
* Proven ability to produce project related Quality Plans, processes and associated quality documents (ITPs, check sheets).
* Able to communicate clearly and present in a professional, articulate manner and work effectively in and lead teams.
Qualifications
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Internal Auditor qualification ISO 9001:2015.
* Member of Chartered Quality Institute - CQI.
Desirable
* Lead Auditor qualification – ISO 9001:2015.
* Engineering qualification or relevant experience and knowledge of design and engineering methodologies.
