At KLA, we design, develop, and manufacture high-tech capital equipment for the global semiconductor industry. In this role, you’ll work in our high-performing manufacturing team to build and assemble complex processing equipment.
Based at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Newport, South Wales, this role offers the opportunity to work with innovative technology and learn precision automated manufacturing processes!
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
1. Operating fixturing/tooling or hand-held electronic equipment (Voltmeter, Caliper, Oscilloscope) to test cable assemblies or electronic assembly boxes.
2. Manual soldering of small electronic components (using a microscope) onto Printed Circuit Boards (resistors, capacitors, dies).
3. Visual inspection using a microscope (20x magnification) for dies, resistors, capacitors to ensure parts meet specifications.
4. Applying systematic problem-solving approaches to identify root causes and develop correction plans for equipment, material, or process issues.
5. Collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering teams to resolve issues with released products.
6. Handling or attaching small components (dies, capacitors, resistors) using tweezers and in-house build fixtures.
7. Performing visual inspections (IQC/OQC) on raw parts (flex, PCBA, silicon substrate).
8. Handling dilute chemical solutions (IPA, DI water, Acetone, epoxy) to clean products.
9. Conducting functional tests on products.
10. Having HNC / HND qualification in Electrical, Electronic Engineering (or similar) or equivalent level qualification.
11. Ideally possessing experience in electronic assembly, PCB assembly, and soldering.
12. Having excellent analytical and fault-finding skills.
13. Utilizing electrical and mechanical schematics to rectify faults and defects.
14. Operating fixturing/tooling or hand-held electronic equipment (Voltmeter, Caliper, Oscilloscope).
15. Demonstrating strong communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships.
16. Having experience in a manufacturing and/or shop-floor environment; clean room experience is desirable.
17. Being familiar with handling wafers/substrates.
18. Having experience with MS Office products.
This is a permanent position working Monday to Friday, with occasional shift work due to business needs. Some international travel may be required for role-related training.
