Location: Solihull
Job Summary
To lead the care team during any shift professionally, ensuring a safe, effective, and efficient care service that meets the needs of children, young people, and stakeholders. To provide high-quality therapeutic care to children and young people with mental health and complex needs, including those with learning disabilities, adopting a child-centred approach that promotes self-awareness, personal growth, and active participation in decision-making and lifestyle choices. To support children and young people in achieving positive outcomes as outlined in their placement plans. To work as part of a staff team under management supervision.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
* At least 2 years of experience working with children and young people in a residential setting with mental health and complex needs, including challenging behaviors such as verbal and physical aggression, threats, and missing from care.
* Level 3 Health and Social Care, Children and Young People qualification or equivalent.
* No sponsorship offered; a 12-month visa is essential.
Key Duties
* Ensure high standards of care by working with the management team.
* Serve as the nominated daily shift lead, organizing team duties and handovers.
* Motivate, support, and supervise staff on duty.
* Provide on-call support on a rota basis.
* Conduct supervision and appraisals for staff members.
* Organize rotas and deploy staff appropriately, considering safety and budget constraints.
* Deliver quality care and support in residential and community settings.
* Follow policies, procedures, and standards including child-centred planning and risk assessments.
* Participate in social, leisure, educational, and life skills activities with children and young people.
* Support personal care, health, sexual health, and mobility needs.
* Assist with medical and mental health needs, including medication administration and appointments.
* Maintain accurate records following organizational and legal requirements.
* Support holiday and activity planning for children and young people.
* When required, drive company vehicles and maintain them.
* Key work responsibilities, including record-keeping and financial accountability.
* Promote independence and life skills development.
* Ensure health and safety standards through daily domestic tasks and record-keeping.
