About us
UCL Department of Chemical Engineering is one of the top research and teaching departments in the UK, with a world-class reputation. The project is funded by Innovate UK and involves close collaboration with industry to develop a prototype gas adsorption rig for CO2 capture applications.
About the role
The post holder will develop a prototype adsorption-based system for CO2 capture. Responsibilities include analyzing and applying knowledge to gas adsorption processes in temperature swing adsorption (TSA) and pressure swing adsorption (PSA). The role involves writing high-impact publications, conducting high-quality research, and working closely with industry to implement practical aspects of the gas adsorption rig. This is a fixed-term role until 31st March 2026. Salary ranges from £45,103 to £48,679 per annum, inclusive of London allowance. The appointment is subject to UCL Terms and Conditions of Service for Research and Professional Services Staff.
About you
The ideal candidate will have:
* A PhD in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering, Materials, or Chemistry
* Research experience in a relevant environment
* Experience with process design in Aspen, gPROMS, or LabView
* Hands-on experience designing PSA/TSA systems for CO2 capture
* Ability to produce complex reports and papers accurately and clearly
