Base Salary: £180k

Our client is a prominent, established UK Infrastructure and Utilities company is undertaking a strategic search for a highly accomplished Group Business Development Director.
This is a mission-critical, senior leadership appointment, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, with ultimate accountability for the group's organic and inorganic growth trajectory.
The Role
* You will be charged with developing and implementing a comprehensive group-wide business development strategy.
* Identifying, assessing, and prioritising new business streams, market opportunities, and potential strategic partnerships or acquisitions that align with the group’s long-term corporate objectives.
* Overseeing the development and meticulous management of a robust sales pipeline, focusing on high-value, complex, and regulated infrastructure contracts across energy, water, telecommunications sectors.
* Leading all stages of the tender and bidding process, including commercial negotiations, risk assessment, and financial modelling to ensure optimal shareholder value and sustainable profitability.
* Building and maintaining influential relationships with key governmental bodies, regulatory authorities, major clients, and industry stakeholders across the UK to position the company as a partner of choice.
* Mentoring and managing the existing Business Development team, fostering a high-performance culture focused on innovation, ethical practices, and measurable results.
The Person
* The ideal candidate will be a strategic visionary with a verifiable track record of success at a senior level within the infrastructure, utilities, or a closely related highly regulated industry.
* Will have demonstrable success in winning large-scale, multi-year contracts (typically valued at £100m+.
* A strong understanding of UK procurement processes and public sector frameworks is essential.
* A degree-level education in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Business, Finance). An advanced business qualification (e.g., MBA) is highly desirable.
* Exceptional commercial and financial acumen, coupled with superior communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
* Must be a self-starter who thrives in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
