JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title : Cover Administrator
Location : Portsmouth
Salary: £11,103 (pro-rata based on FTE salary of £26,863)
Job type: Permanent, Part Time
The Portsmouth Grammar School is a leading co-educational school located in the heart of historic Portsmouth.
The Role
We have a newly created Cover Administrator role within our Whole School Office team to provide cover and administrative support to the Junior School in particular on a part time (20 hours per week), term time basis. The hours of work will be Monday to Friday from 7.45am to 11.45am and will include attendance at all Professional Development Days (INSET) in the school calendar.
Main Responsibilities
Lead responsibility for cover administration tasks to include:
The processing of leave absence forms and arranging teacher and teaching assistant cover
Arranging emergency cover, providing staff absence reports and absence recording and monitoring using school systems
Assisting in the production of the weekly staff arrangements document
Administrative tasks to include:
Making Junior School room bookings and re-rooming arrangements for events
Co-ordinating Junior School photography, catering and IT bookings for events
Supporting the development of the Academic planner
Administrative support to the Junior School Senior Leadership Team
Assisting in planning for Professional Development Days, planning for staff induction and setting up lesson observations
Assisting in the administration of the performance review system
The Ideal Candidate
A good standard of education, with excellent spoken and written English (essential)
Experience of working in a team (essential)
Experience of working with young people in an educational setting (desirable)
Organised with excellent attention to detail
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
A high level of IT proficiency including Microsoft Office with a willingness to learn other software packages, as required
Ability to remain calm in a busy school environment
Ability to work with discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times
Willingness to undertake all necessary safeguarding and other training
