The Role
Herefordshire Council is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable and RBI 3 Principle Building Control Surveyor to join our Building Control Team. If you have a passion for building control, this is the role for you. We are engaging with the changes in the industry and are looking to grow the team to meet the challenges ahead of us.
What will you be doing?
Under the direction of the Building Control Manager, you will head up an existing team of Building Control Surveyors and Technical Support Officers to provide the building control service at an operational level, including day‑to‑day activities, together with the administrative duties of the department. You will also have the additional responsibility to deputise for the building control manager as necessary.
You will deal with both internal and external customers in respect of building control related areas, including regulation applications, site inspections, building safety levy charges, pre‑application advice, potentially dangerous structure reports and relevant enforcement enquiries. Work closely with our IT providers to ensure up‑to‑date and accurate computer records are maintained, with preparation of periodic data reports. You will work closely with colleagues in Building Control to address the council’s work on projects and report directly to the Building Control Manager.
About You
* An understanding of the role of a registered building inspector, the requirements of the building safety regulator and demonstrable experience and knowledge in this specialist area.
* Strong knowledge of building control, regulatory issues and current legislation.
* The ability to work under your own initiative as well as within a team, often to tight deadlines and on multiple work streams.
