Band 6 - Specialist Occupational Therapist

Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join the occupational therapy team within the Royal Edinburgh Hospital working in mental health rehabilitation. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and hard‑working individual to join our friendly team.
The post holder will have leadership and innovation skills and will be able to work both independently and as part of a multi‑professional team. This post would suit someone who has a passion for assessing, formulating and developing therapy intervention packages that promote occupational performance and independence. Skills and knowledge in working with complex physical health conditions would be an asset. Working jointly with the occupational therapy team, the post holder will address physical, cognitive, emotional, mental health and social issues and support decision‑making around discharge location and support required.
Professional supervision, training and development are integral to the service.

Responsibilities
* Lead and innovate within the occupational therapy team.
* Assess, formulate, and develop therapy intervention packages that promote occupational performance and independence.
* Work autonomously and collaboratively with multi‑professional teams to address physical, cognitive, emotional, mental health and social issues.
* Support decision‑making around discharge location and required support.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Leadership and innovation skills.
* Ability to work independently and within a multi‑professional team.
* Experience or skills in assessing and developing therapy intervention packages for mental health rehabilitation.
* Knowledge of complex physical health conditions is an asset.
* Membership or current registration with the PVG Scheme (or ability to obtain one).
* Valid work permit in the United Kingdom.

Salary and Working Hours
As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. There will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
