Role Overview:
As our QHSE Manager, you'll be at the heart of our operations, ensuring we maintain our reputation for excellence while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You'll manage our integrated management systems across all UK sites, working with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
What You will be doing:
Quality Management Systems
· Take overall responsibility for Quality Management Systems across all Makita UK sites, ensuring ISO 9001 certification maintenance
· Establish, implement, and maintain processes needed for effective quality management
· Monitor and report quality system performance to senior management
· Maintain systems that promote awareness of customer requirements throughout the organisation
· Manage the complete customer feedback process, handling complaints and compliments with monthly reporting to senior management
· Liaise with internal and external parties on all quality management matters
Environmental Management Systems:
· Lead Environmental Management Systems for all UK sites, maintaining ISO 14001 certification
· Establish, implement, and maintain environmental management processes
· Ensure services and products are delivered with minimal environmental impact
· Oversee and maintain comprehensive waste stream management systems
· Promote and implement recycling policies across all Makita UK sites
· Develop and oversee waste reduction and energy saving policies
· Drive continuous improvement in energy management practices
Health & Safety Management:
· Maintain Health & Safety Management Systems and ISO 45001 certification across all sites
· Establish, implement, and maintain H&S management processes
· Promote wellbeing policies throughout all Makita UK locations
· Ensure implementation of safety and health processes across the organisation
Audit & Compliance:
· Conduct monthly and annual internal audits (site-based, remote, and office-based)
· Manage and assist with external audits as required
· Ensure compliance with current legislation and best practice
· Monitor legislative changes and alert responsible persons for timely action
· Set and monitor KPIs to ensure standards are consistently met
Strategic Leadership:
· Provide managerial support for day-to-day QHSE department operations
· Make strategic decisions to improve existing policies and procedures
· Implement change and develop new policies as business needs evolve
· Foster a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organisation
· Ensure consistency of quality and environmental standards across all sites
· Develop excellent business relationships with customers and suppliers
· Chair and attend annual and monthly review meetings
· Deliver relevant training programs to staff at all levels
· Provide detailed responses to customer queries on quality and environmental matters
What We Are Looking For:
Essential:
· Degree(or equivalent) in Quality/Environmental Management, Engineering, or related field
· Proven experience in managing Quality and Environmental Management Systems
· Professional certifications or equivalent (Lead Auditor ISO 9001/14001/45001, CQI membership)
· Proven experience with multi-site operations and maintaining certifications
· Strong audit experience and knowledge of UK legislation
· Management experience with the ability to lead teams and drive change
Desirable:
· Manufacturing or engineering industry background
· NEBOSH qualification or Six Sigma certification or equivalent
· Experience in power tools or similar retail/distribution sectors
