Overview
Research Nurse or Clinical Trial Practitioner role at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH). This position is linked to the Haem-Match study, a programme aimed at providing blood for transfusion that is more precisely matched to patients’ blood groups using extended (red cell antigen) matching, genetics to determine blood groups, and an algorithm to allocate units of blood. The Haem-Match 1 study is a safety and performance study evaluating how the algorithm allocates blood for adults with sickle cell disorder as part of their exchange transfusion programmes. The post holder will be responsible for recruitment, sample collection, and data collection for this feasibility study, funded through the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS Blood and Transplant, and UCL Biomedical Research Centre.
The post holder will lead and coordinate participant recruitment, care, and data collection for the HaemMatch feasibility study, with support from the programme manager and the Chief Investigator. Excellent communication skills are required to liaise with participants, the MDT, clinical services, and external institutions and departments essential to this study. The role requires a motivated, autonomous worker who can project manage in a supportive environment.
UCLH is a major NHS trust delivering academically led acute and specialist services across eight sites, committed to top-quality patient care, education, and world-class research, with a pledge to achieve net-zero emissions by 2031 (direct) and 2040 (indirect).
