We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and experienced Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Cheltenham, starting as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about Key Stage 1 and enjoys supporting children as they transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage into structured learning. As a Year 1 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess lessons across the Key Stage 1 curriculum. You will foster independence, resilience, and a love of learning while providing the necessary support to ensure each child reaches their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. Key Responsibilities Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 1 curriculum Deliver engaging literacy, numeracy, and foundation subject lessons Support pupils transitioning from EYFS to Key Stage 1 Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL Promote independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours Maintain a structured, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment Track pupil progress and maintain accurate assessment records Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and Key Stage 1 colleagues Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress Contribute to staff meetings, CPD sessions, and whole-school initiatives Support school events, enrichment activities, and extra-curricular opportunities Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Have experience teaching Key Stage 1, ideally Year 1 Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills Be nurturing, reflective, and adaptable Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing Work collaboratively as part of a professional, supportive team The school is located in Cheltenham, with excellent transport links and a supportive local community.
