The Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Water Hygiene Engineer to join their team and support the delivery of planned preventative maintenance and compliance services across customer sites in the London region.
You will be responsible for attending client sites and ensuring water systems are maintained in line with current legislation and industry guidance, including ACoP L8 and HSG274. The role will involve managing a defined portfolio of sites, ensuring consistency of service delivery and maintaining strong working relationships with site contacts and internal account managers.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for delivering routine water hygiene and compliance tasks across a range of commercial and public sector environments, ensuring systems remain safe, compliant, and well maintained. This will include maintaining accurate records and ensuring logbooks and compliance documentation are kept up to date and audit ready at all times. You will be expected to identify any gaps in site compliance and escalate or report accordingly. The role also involves highlighting potential additional works or improvements where appropriate and supporting the wider team in maintaining and improving client water systems.
Requirements
You will need practical experience and working knowledge of ACoP L8 and HSG274, along with a full UK driving licence. The role requires the ability to work independently, often travelling between sites and managing your own workload effectively. A willingness to work across varied environments, including schools and commercial buildings, is essential, and you will need to be able to pass DBS checks where required. The successful candidate will be confident working on site, able to communicate effectively with clients, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider team. Experience in core water hygiene duties such as temperature monitoring, tank inspections, showerhead descales, sampling, flushing and system disinfection is required. Experience with closed systems and cooling towers would be beneficial.
