This includes substation construction and maintenance activity. IUS also operates as an Independent Connections Provider (ICP), designing and installing network connections to adoptable standards. We also deliver multi-utility services for housing developers for their electric, water and gas mains and services. Our industrial resources provide a wide range of High Voltage and Low Voltage services including cable jointing, electrical fitting and overhead line works to the highest standards.A Design Manager is required to lead and develop a multi-skilled team of engineering colleagues to deliver the detailed designs for all workstream areas and to drive the provision of an enhanced level of support to the Operations team to ensure all relevant contractual obligations are met.Along with a competitive salary of between £69,593 and £81,123 we also offer great benefits such as;•25 days holiday plus bank holidays•Performance bonus of up to 15%•Agile working•Enrolment into our double matched pension schemeKey Responsibilities Lead the IUS design team to provide detailed designs for all workstreams across the business.Enhance current design processes to reduce company risk and liability via formal validation, verification and approval prior to and during construction.Improve internal processes and procedures to ensure all designs completed within IUS are appropriately checked, validated, verified and approved prior to being issued for construction.Control design liabilities by implementing robust approval procedures to ensure all designs meet performance parameters and client expectations.Build an operations-based design team to strengthen design capability with regards to resource, training, competence and experience.Develop competencies to allow IUS to be appointed as a Principal Designer under CDM regulations.Develop and maintain a suite of IUS design procedures, standards, specifications and guidance documents.Maintain continuity and consistency of design work for all relevant workstreams ensuring that delivery timescales and targets are not affected.Create a robust quality assurance process for all relevant project, contract or framework designs.Key Competencies Leadership and colleague developmentPlanning and organisingAccurate and detail orientatedExcellent customer serviceCommercial awarenessGood time management skillsSHEQ understandingQualifications and AttributesEssential Qualifications and ExperienceHNC in Electrical Engineering or Degree in Electrical EngineeringProfessional Registration to Incorporated or Chartered Engineer levelExperience of working within an electricity distribution network operator type business or similar in a design roleNetwork analysis and specialist studies using company software to ensure network operation and compliance with prevailing standards such as ER P28, G5 and G99Protection systemsFull, clean UK Driving LicenceWhat next?We’re excited to hear from candidates with a passion for our company and the energy industry and a desire to succeed.
