You will be working within a Public Sector organisation managing budgets and working as a part-time Finance Officer.
Your new role
As a Finance Officer, you will play a key role in supporting schools to manage their finances effectively and sustainably. You will work closely with all stakeholders, providing professional advice on all aspects of financial management, reporting and planning. Your responsibilities will include preparing monthly management accounts, bank reconciliations, year-end accounts and VAT returns. You will monitor staffing and non-staffing budgets, identify and explain variances, and prepare forecasts of schools’ likely financial position at year-end. You will maintain internal financial systems to meet reporting requirements and ensure all reportsply with relevant financial standards. You will also support schools with their financial planning by preparing annual budgets and cash flow statements, assisting with financial projections, and offering ongoing advice as required. In addition, you will be expected to keep up to date with developments in education finance and carry out your duties in line with organisational policies on equality, health and safety, and inclusive working practices.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have experience of financial management, budgeting and reporting. You will have strong analytical skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly. You will have confidence in preparing management accounts, forecasting and budget reports. You will have good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. You will have a proactive approach, with amitment to delivering high-quality customer service. You wille from a strong public sector background with knowledge of localernment, education, higher education or the wider public sector.
